Happy Thanksgiving!!

Nov 25th  Today is Thanksgiving & we’re very thankful for all we have, all we’ve seen, our family & friends. They had a Thanksgiving potluck dinner at the RV park where we’re staying.  It was very nice.  The park furnished the main ingredients & we all brought a dish to share.   It was very good & gave us a chance to meet a few of the people living here.   Wow!  Hard to believe it’s 1 month to Christmas. It’s very weird celebrating Thanksgiving in 80 temps.  When I see Christmas decorations I can hardly believe it’s that time of year.  We’re wearing shorts & going to the pool.
Last weekend we went to Marco Island to visit friends we knew in Geneva, IL. – John & Debbie Scharader.  We had a wonderful time with them.  They had invited us to stay with them, which was very gracious.  Sat we went to a couple of their favorite bars then just hung out at their house.  Sunday they took us out on their boat for a tour around the island

.
It was such a beautiful day.  Some of the homes on the gulf are unbelievable.  We went to Romano Island which is basically empty.

There are a group of dome houses which are empty & partially decimated from a hurricane.  They look like Alien houses.  The beach was white sand with lots of shells.

After we went back to the house, we went to a place called Stans, which apparently is “the place” to go on Sunday afternoon.
Check out the Hair!

It’s really crazy.  People wear crazy hats & clothes & do crazy dances.  There are tons of people there every Sunday.

It was a lot of fun.   Later that evening we got in the hot tub & just enjoyed the evening.  Monday, after breakfast, we headed back to the RV.  On our way back, we stopped at a place in the Everglades & took a tram tour of an area of the National Everglades Park.

Wood Stork

We saw a lot of alligators & tons of different birds.  Many of them are coming now for the winter.  We saw the Wood Stork which is endangered.   The Everglades  are shrinking all the time because of the growing populations in the surrounding areas & less water.  I always thought the Everglades were “just a swamp” but it It’s so much more than that.  It really has it’s own beauty.
It seems strange not getting up early to go Christmas Shopping with Paula ,Pam & Becca (our daughters & granddaughter).  Last year we started at Midnight & stayed out all night.  It sounds crazy, but we had a lot of fun & got a lot of our shopping done at that time.  They are going again this year.  I feel like I need to go shopping tomorrow just because it is Black Friday.  I may just do that after we work out.
Hard to believe we’ve been here almost 3 weeks.  We’ll be leaving Monday for Orlando.
